Lambton offers something for everyone and is a particular favourite among those who enjoy an outdoor lifestyle.
Bordered by New Lambton, North Lambton and Elermore Vale, Lambton is located eight kilometres north-west of the Newcastle CBD.
Lambton began life as a coal mining township but has also played a part in the Hunter’s sporting and entertainment history. Lambton Park hosted the first organised soccer match between workers from competing mines and Newcastle’s oldest rugby league club was formed in a pub on Elder Street.
Until the 1980s, Lambton’s King’s Theatre was one of Newcastle’s most popular cinemas. Now called Lizotte’s, it operates as a theatre restaurant and plays host to performances from local, national and international musicians.
